Frontet av låtskriver Hassan El Bouzidi er H:e:B et band fra bergen med en unik besetning og tilnærming. Hassan er født i Marokko og gir både stemme og musikk til den marokkanske kulturen gjennom låtene sine. Tekstene hans er både politiske og sosialt relevante, og tilnærmer seg det hele med en blanding av humor og velplassert ironi.

Vi ble først klar over El Bouzidi sin musikk gjennom den landsomfattende organisasjonen Samspill, et nettverk for utøvere av internasjonal musikk bosatt i Norge. Bandets musikk er bemerkelsesverdig rytmisk og klarer som regel å fange lyttere inn i en leken og fargerik klangverden. De ga nylig ut sitt andre album “Demi-volee (Part 1)”, som til tross for tittelen, er andre del av en trilogi som også inneholder bandets første plate “Zero.” Sanseinntrykkene er mange, og H:e:B står sjeldent i ro. Tredje del av trilogien beveger seg over i også norske tolkninger av enkelte låter, i en stadig og allsidig utforskning av lyriske uttrykk som hele tiden kretser rundt El Bouzidi sin magnetiske vokal og perkussive talenter.

Fronted by songwriter Hassan El Bouzidi, H:e:B is a local band with a unique lineup and starting point. Hassan was born in Marocco and through his music is giving voice to Moroccan culture in Norway. His lyrics are both political and socially relevant, but he approaches his themes with a mixture of humour and well-placed irony.

We first became aware of El Bouzidi and his music through the countrywide organisation Samspill, a netwerk for performers of international music living in Norway. The band’s music is notably rythmic, capturing their listeners in a playful and colorful world of sounds. They recently released their second album “Demi-volee (Part 1)”. Despite its title the records is the second in a triolgy also comprising their first album “Zero.” The sensations are endless, H:e:B seldom settling down musically. The third and final installment of their trilogy promises to bring the Moroccan roots of the band deeper into a Norwegian context, in a constant and all-encompassing exploration of lyrical expressions, grounded in El Bouzidi’s magnetic vocals and percussive talents.
